JCPCDR Architecture: architects who have saved space in a small space in Paris
Originally it was a one-bedroom apartment with a not-so-large interior layout. Location wise, this apartment is in a picturesque area of Paris. This year the whole hotel has been renovated. This was a project carried out by the JCPDR Architecture¹ studio. The project involved making some structural changes in addition to giving the place a new aesthetic. The most important change was the addition of a second bedroom and a walk-in closet at the request of the new owner of the apartment.

JCPCDR Architecture: architects who brought light to small apartments in Paris
Another problem the architects had to solve was that in this space the windows were positioned only at the ends, leaving the center of the apartment dark and narrow. After the renovation everything was completely changed. The living spaces are now positioned around the windows. The center contains the traffic areas and also receives sufficient natural light thanks to the new design. Although new partitions have been added to create the additional bedroom, new openings have also been added. In this way, the architects let the light reach all corners of the apartment.

Kitchen full of storage
As the kitchen was part of the living room, the main colors had to be respected. Since the space is small, plenty of storage has been provided. To respect the aesthetics in the main and unique room, the storage has not been created open. The white color throughout the space keeps the light easily penetrating and gives the place a chic aesthetic. In order to separate the living room from the kitchen, the architects did not use traditional space dividers, such as furniture, curtains or good old optical techniques (colors, etc.). They preferred the technique of earthwork inside.

Modern and ancient reconciliation: the very signature of the architects
The architects knew how to reconcile modernity and the antique. Clean shapes, snow white color, young wood in the details and the parquet speak modernity. The exposed beams denounce a certain age. The fireplace has been renovated but when it came out, it kept the spirit of the times. To recall the location of the apartment which is in the center of Paris, the architects left the exposed beams visible.

This earthwork technique also saved space in the office or dining area. The desk or table, which he / she will be used for, has no legs. This does not obstruct the gaze towards the other end of the room, which creates even more space. Light easily enters the room, which further allows space-saving techniques to be used successfully.

Colors chosen in the renovated property designed by JCPCDR Architecture
Aside from the white and wood colors, the architects emphasized blue. Several shades of blue are chosen in the furnishings of the interior of the Parisian apartment. Whether steel blue, petrol blue or navy blue, this color is chosen among all the others as a secondary color.

In a minimalist interior design, details play a more than important role. Indeed, their role is crucial for the style and signature of the architect guaranteeing the satisfaction of his client. In this hallway, for example, the lights are the important detail. In accordance and in harmony with the ground, these lamps are reminiscent of seashells and pearls at the same time. They turn the ground into sand. Suddenly, this interior in white and blue reveals its Mediterranean trend.

Other space saving furniture ideas
High or mezzanine beds are often the solution that Parisians choose in their small homes. If they can’t get the loft bed suspended or set it up properly, there is another way they can do it. The bed can represent the top of a piece of furniture that makes a wardrobe, a staircase with storage and a bookcase. This piece of furniture gives a feeling of more security because sometimes the mezzanines are scary. Hanging high, we fear that they will fall.
An installation can consist of a lower part in which the kitchen is located. In the upper part, a whole room can take place. An additional floor which houses the bed and the office area, even the library. This architectural composition can only be the work and the work of a master.
The bed space in very small apartments
We have seen it in the example of the mezzanine. Most likely, we know the Murphy bed. It can take place elsewhere, and the solution will be no less intelligent. The bed can be located under the kitchen, in the drawer position. The principle is that of the trundle bed. However, the bed that comes out from under the kitchen floor is the main bed..
When stored under the kitchen, you can store chairs or any furniture that would not find its place if the bed could not be hidden or stored.

Such a piece of furniture takes up no less space than a smaller piece of furniture without the objects stored in it. The genius is in the ease of storage and movement. When you do not want to use an object, it is neatly stored without effort. Its previous location is quickly used otherwise while the object is stored in the large space-saving cabinet.
The desk is transformed into a dining table in one push. One push is enough to transform the whole place and what we do there.

The idea is brilliant. Large library-type room dividers move. In this way, different already furnished rooms open up. We use them as and when we need to use them.
Tidy up the rest of your apartment behind a mirror wall
The mirror doubles the space, it is the optical effect. Behind the mirror wall, we have storage shelves and drawers, a kind of cupboard. We also have a Murphy bed.
When you get off the bed, the living room is transformed into a bedroom. In the morning, the bed is tidied up with a single gesture. The sliding doors of the mirror wall close and we have a living room again.
Directly opposite the wall bed / wardrobe installation, we have the kitchen, which can also be stored in a sort of compact cabinet. The idea is to have a real living room when you don’t need to sleep or cook. The place is transformed from a simple small apartment into a room of minimalist and luxurious style.
Student studio
Here’s how a maid’s room can be turned into a practical student studio. Lots of storage made from wood and a fold-away bed as part of the wooden cabinet. When lowering the Murphy bed, the drawers must be closed. Once the bed is on the floor, the drawers are usable again.
Another studio with bedroom, living room and kitchen
Long like a train compartment, this studio still has great potential. Thanks to the intellect of the architects, this room offers a lot of possibilities. Nothing can be folded or stored, but the storage is so conveniently located that everything is close at hand.
